A wee little walk up a wee little hill - Scotland 2019 - part 1

I recently got treated to a weekend away in Bonny Scotland, a place I absolutely love with its picturesque views. What a good place to take my camera and hopefully take some cracking shoots!
We were based up near Stirling. After a horrible drive with yellow weather warnings for heavy rain we arrived late at night and after a quick nightcap in the hotel bar (so disappointed that they didn't have tenants!) to plan what we're going to do the next day, straight to bed ready for a early start to make the most of the day! And boy did we do a lot!
After googling walks near by, we came across a website for Loch Lomond and the trossachs which can be found here With a description of "A recently-upgraded path easily leads walkers from a car park on the A821, on the banks of pretty Loch Achray to reach the 454m summit of Ben A’an. Rarely taxing, although a little steep in places, the walk of around 4km might be short but it offers a surprisingly big experience." We thought why not!

Amateur move but we didn't actually read the detailed description of the walk before hand.....
Ben A'an has its own carpark at the bottom of the hill of which there is a small charge. We crossed the road and started up the track, straight into a climb. Even with the recently upgraded path, it was still rocky and uneven in places. As you climb you come close to the edge of the woods.
Looking up you start to think, this isn't going to be as easy or as rarely taxing as the post lead us to believe......
Several rest stops were needed, but when I looked back, the views were amazing, looking over Loch Achrey.
As we continued onwards and upwards we came across a footbridge crossing over a tumbling stream and small waterfall. We were thinking at the top of this most be the top, so we carried on......

As we continued up the path, zig zagging up the side of the hill I couldn't wait to see the view from the other side.... As I was taking pictures, the hubby went on head. I heard him laugh... as we came to the top we were confronted we this....

With me having a dodgy ankle I had to admit defeat at this point. I was in some discomfort and looking up at the path ahead there was no way my ankle could cope with that, it was STEEP! So we made our way back down in defeat and I renamed this little beauty "failure hill".
Though I did take some good picture on the way back down.

Defeated, we went back to the car and decided since we didn't see if from the top we'd go and see Loch Katrine.......
Thank you for reading!
